- 'Botanical Impressions' - Mads Cooke - September 10th - October 8th
The Spray Room is excited to host ‘Botanical Impressions’ by Mads Cooke.

As her first solo exhibition, this body of work is an experimentation of technique and medium. Exploring the physical process of painting and drawing. Open to creating an array of different outcomes – questioning and discovering her approach as an artist through an observation of nature.

Her fondness of vintage botanical illustrations inspire some of her latest works in which she explores the two dimensional depiction of form, colour & detail of a singular plant species. Her practice has become introspective work for her, and aspires the viewer to likewise engage in the meditative mood of these works.

Mads Cooke is a self-taught artist, creating visceral, immersive stills of the natural world. Her work makes visual connections between the shapes, colours and textures of her surrounding environment. Characterised by soft builds of texture, repetitive line-work and harmonious palettes to depict both vivid and ambiguous portrayals of landscape.

Drawing & painting observed shapes and colours create a soothing experience for her. Softness, fluidity and muted colours construct Cooke’s dreamlike compositions -evoking hazy memories of her young childhood in the Adelaide Hills.
